An unfortunate TTC driver parked this bus ( and apparently his brain) in neutral and then left the bus to do it's own thing. It's own thing was rolling into this truck.

Instead of making a video, why would you not hop on board and step on the brakes? It's not going very quickly.

wow I personally would have taken this opportunity to jump onto a moving bus and hit the brake like i'm in some sort of action movie. Insted this guy just sits there and films it, and nothing even blew up!

Bus moving at 3mph? Door open?
Hop in and step on brakes, becoming hero?
Nope, film. Unless I'm missing something, spectator could've been about 100x more helpful.

I did not hop on board because I was not there.

If the bus is off the airbrakes won't have air correct?

I don't think hitting the brake pedal would have done anything, if the bus is off there is no air in the brakes right?

Is the bus not on?
Also, I would think jumping on and putting it in park would work.

It is not on. Not sure busses have "park" if they do it is hard to shift into park while moving. I will keep providing this spectator with excuses.

Why did they not throw themselves under the bus, so to speak? Or in front of it?
That's what they should've done.

Clearly. P.S. Next time a dump truck is hurtling towards you, take evasive maneuvers haha.

i dunno. I thought they were set up so that it needs air pressure to release the brakes so that if the system breaks it would apply the brakes instead of losing all function. again, not facts just i think this guy n the internet once said that

I am not sure either to be honest.

I moved forward. And it was a garbage truck.

That is correct—The default position for air brakes is "full on". The air pressure is to release them.

Usually city buses don't have park position in their gearbox. And if their air system has too low pressure the parking brake engages. In emergency situation the parking brake can be disengaged with tools but it is pretty hard to do. So if it is rolling there is pressure in the system and the brake pedal works.
This applies to European buses but I'm pretty sure that US buses have the same system.

Thank you, I am ignorant in the way of air brakes.

I wasn't referring to you specifically, rather the person taking this video, others around him and those in similar situations.

Air brakes default to a fully on position, air pressure releases them.
